Policies are typically underwritten by non-Hanover carriers, and often are on non-admitted paper. HSIB was created by the American Coatings Association in 1979 to address their environmental and casualty exposures. HSIB was acquired by The Hanover Insurance Group in 2008. Along with Hanover Specialty Industrial Property, HSIB is part of Hanover Specialty Industrial, a stand-alone business unit within Hanover.
