What To Do If You’re Caught In A Storm
- Avoid open areas like the beach or the golf course, and stay away from tall isolated objects. Take shelter in buildings, caves or ditches.
- Stay as low to the ground as possible, keeping your arms and legs close to your body. If you are standing or walking, you could be the tallest terminal for lightning and are at risk of being struck.
- Stay clear of telephone and power lines, pipelines or steel erections. Avoid metal fences, wires and sheds and do not use metal objects, fishing rods or golf clubs.
- If traveling, stay in your car. The car’s shell will act as a shield.
- If you feel a tingling sensation, drop to the ground immediately.
