Introduction
To recognize and reward students who exhibit academic achievement, demonstrate leadership and possess a commitment to community service, we at The Hanover Insurance Group are pleased to make our community scholarship program available to public school students in the Greater Worcester area (i.e., Auburn, Boylston, Grafton, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury, Spencer, West Boylston and Worcester).
We will provide 16 non-renewable scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 - $1,500 to high school seniors attending public schools in the Greater Worcester area.
In addition, we also are proud to offer six new scholarships specifically for high school seniors in Worcester Public Schools (i.e., Burncoat Senior High School, Claremont Academy, Doherty Memorial High School, North High School, South High Community School and Worcester Technical High School) who are enrolled in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. One AVID student from each of the six Worcester high schools will be selected to receive a scholarship.
The application deadline is November 30, 2009.
We will announce the award winners in February 2010.

Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must attend an accredited, diploma-granting, public secondary school located in Auburn, Boylston, Grafton, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury, Spencer, West Boylston or Worcester.
- Applicants must plan to attend an accredited, degree-granting, two-or four-year college or university no later than fall 2010.
- Financial need will not be considered.
Application Process
Along with a completed application (see PDF below), applicants for all scholarships must submit the following materials:
- Official copy of most recent high school transcript.
- Class ranking, if not indicated on transcript.

Intake of Applications and Selection Process
Intake of applications and selection of scholarship recipients will be managed by Scholarship Management Services, a division of the non-profit Scholarship America, which is the nation’s leading scholarship management administrator. Funding and Distribution
Scholarship awards will be made payable to the recipient's college or university for the benefit of the student. The student must provide evidence of enrollment in a qualified institution prior to receiving an award payment.
