'Tis the season...to decorate safely
Light up your home safely:
Replace or repair damaged light sets. Do not connect more than three light strands together, or 50 screw-in bulbs. If you're using an extension cord, heavy gauge is best. Make sure cords aren't being damaged by doors, windows or heavy furniture. -
Check for:
A label from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Cracked sockets, frayed or exposed wires, and loose bulbs.
Be prepared.
Test your smoke alarms. Have a fire extinguisher nearby.
