Wearable sensors for manual material handling
Manual handling injuries are a major cause of injury in the workplace, sidelining workers and production and resulting in workers’ comp claims. Many of those injuries are preventable.
As part of the Hanover i-on Workplace Ergonomics Program, Risk Solutions leverages JAS sensor technology from Longitude 6 and Etiscope to help evaluate the risks of those injuries, find risk factors and propose solutions.
Valuable services for Hanover policyholders
The program takes advantage of state-of-the-art technology to help evaluate material handling situations to be sure they aren’t an injury waiting to happen—and correct the situation if they are.
Wearable sensors placed on the back, neck, head and upper arms evaluate specific material handling tasks and send data to the Etiscope program. The program evaluates whether the employee is at risk of injury and what aspects of the job create the greatest risk.
Our workers’ comp customers in industries from manufacturing to transportation, healthcare to hospitality, will all gain insight and make progress toward reducing injuries, increasing productivity and in creating a safety culture that will benefit employees and employers for years to come.
